Ambroise’s journey into downhill skateboarding began, surprisingly, on YouTube. Growing up in Lyon, France—a city full of steep hills—he was instantly captivated by videos of riders carving downhill streets. “Then I started to get super obsessed with this sport,” he recalls. “I asked my parents for a longboard at Christmas when I was 13 years old.”
From those first wobbly slides in car parks to racing the steepest roads in southern Spain, Ambroise’s evolution as a rider has been fuelled by one thing: chasing that elusive flow state. He describes it as “a mental state in which a person is fully immersed, focused, and energised while doing an activity… Performance often reaches its peak because the challenge of the task matches your skills.” For him, it’s happened fewer than ten times in his life—but each instance leaves an indelible mark.
Flow Vision isn’t just about speed or technical skill. It’s about pursuing the moments that transcend the sport itself. Ambroise took on Europe’s most challenging roads, steep, narrow, and almost eerily deserted, to find that perfect ride. “Steep roads give you speed, narrow roads make it very technical… It’s a whole other vibe!” he explains.
Capturing that feeling on film was no small feat. Ambroise leaned on a trusted crew of friends for cinematography, using innovative techniques like the “follow car,” which places the camera on the bonnet, tracking every slide, drift, and daring descent. The result? Viewers experience the ride as if they’re on the board themselves, wind in their face, heart racing.
Beyond the adrenaline, skateboarding has been transformative for Ambroise. “It gave me friends, travel… it kind of gave me everything,” he says. And at its peak, it offers an almost spiritual experience: those rare moments of flow where the ride, the rider, and the mountain become one.
